dpli FAQ
The useful things to know about the engine, the apps and your privacy.
About dpli
What dpli is, what it creates and where its promise ends.
What is dpli?
dpli is a research-informed spatial sound engine that powers purpose-built listening experiences. It currently sits behind two apps: dpli Focus and dpli Unwind.
Does dpli play prerecorded tracks?
The listening environments are generated in real time on your device. They are not streamed from a playlist of short background recordings.
Why spatial sound?
A background can feel more comfortable when it is perceived as an environment around the listener rather than a flat signal fixed between the ears. Headphones provide the intended spatial experience.
Is dpli active noise cancellation?
No. dpli can mask sound and reduce the perceptual contrast of distractions, but it does not physically cancel incoming sound like ANC. It can be used alongside compatible noise-cancelling headphones.
Is dpli a treatment for ADHD, anxiety or another condition?
No. dpli supports the listening conditions around focus, calm and intentional rest. It is not a medical service and does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition.
The apps
Two experiences built around two different moments.
What is the difference between Focus and Unwind?
dpli Focus is for deep work and making environmental distraction less prominent. dpli Unwind is a simple ten-minute break for decompressing after a demanding or overstimulating moment.
Which devices are supported?
dpli Focus is available for iPhone, iPad and Mac. dpli Unwind is available for iPhone and iPad. Current compatibility requirements are always listed on each app’s App Store page.
How loud should I listen?
Use the lowest comfortable level that gives the background the effect you want. dpli should not need to feel loud. Lower the volume or stop if listening becomes uncomfortable.
Do the apps work offline?
Yes. The core listening experience is generated on device and does not require an audio stream or an active internet connection.
Privacy & purchases
A listening tool does not need to become a data profile.
Do I need an account?
No. Neither dpli Focus nor dpli Unwind requires a dpli account.
Does dpli collect listening data?
The apps do not collect a history of your sessions or send your listening activity to a dpli cloud service. Read the full privacy policy for details.
How are subscriptions and purchases managed?
Payments are handled by Apple. You can view or manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Purchase restoration is available inside the relevant app.
I still need help. How can I get in touch?
Visit Support for troubleshooting and contact information. Include the app name, device, operating system version and app version when reporting a problem.
Still deciding?
Start with the moment you want to change.
Choose Focus for demanding work, or Unwind for a short deliberate pause.
